A further collection from the Times, drawing on columns by both authors with recipes previously unpublished. By the time this book was published, many of the “foreign” and adventurous dishes Claiborne championed early in his career had become a part of the vernacular. He and Franey speak here to cooks who were now in the know.
The recipes remain somewhat ambitious and certainly flavorful. We see everything from masman beef curry to gumbo to Yucatecan chicken escabeche. Not a tired or uninspiring dish among more than 600.
This title was published simultaneously with two different dust jackets, one using a copper background color, the other, identical in design but printed with a metallic silver background color; we are offering a first printing with the copper jacket. The book block and case are in Near Fine condition, save for a stain to the front free endpaper where sticker reside from the flap has discolored it. The jacket is Very Good with a few small closed tears.
